I received a Ph.D. in American and Latin American Studies from the University of Rome 3 in 2006 and, since then, I have taught and carried out research activities in several Italian and foreign institutions:
 
Adjunct Professor in the MA program in Translation Studies (Portuguese) at the Sapienza University of Rome (2006, 2008-11); Associate Scholar and Scientific Director of the Italian-Brazilian Cultural Center of Valença/Rio de Janeiro (2006-14); Adjunct Professor of Brazilian Studies in the MA program in Latin American Studies at the Italian-Latin American Institute of Rome (2007); Adjunct Professor of Brazilian Studies in the MA program in “Peace Education. International Cooperation, Human Rights and Policies” at the University of Rome 3 (2008); Assistant Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Literature at the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the University of Bologna (2013-16); Research Fellow in the “Brazil Initiative” program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (Fall 2014 and Fall 2015); Adjunct Researcher in the “Sense and Sound” project at Stanford University, Palo Alto (2015-18); Research Fellow of Portuguese and Brazilian Literature at the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies of Sapienza University of Rome (2018-2020); Adjunct Professor of Luso-Brazilian Culture and Literature at the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages of Stanford University, Palo Alto (2019); Adjunct Professor of Portuguese and Brazilian Literature at the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies of Sapienza University of Rome (2020-2021).
 
At the University of Bologna, I was a member of the board of the Italian-Brazilian Cultural Foundation (2013-16), Coordinator of the “Conexão Cultura Brasil” program (2014-16, Ministry of Brazilian Culture), Co-director of the MBA in “Brazil and Europe Business Relations” (2013-14), Co-coordinator of the “Brazil Integrated Research Team” (2013-16), and of the “Ciência sem Fronteiras” program (2013-16, CNPq and Capes).
 
I was a Visiting Scholar in several universities and institutions, including University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tulane University, Stanford University, University of Florida, Smith College, Federal University of Minas Gerais, State University of Campinas, and University of Cologne.
From 2006 to 2017 I worked as a specialist in Brazilian politics and culture for the weekly Italian magazine Internazionale. I was a member of the editorial board of the Rivista di Studi Portoghesi e Brasiliani (2009-2016).
 
Currently, I am a CNPq Researcher with the “Projeto República: núcleo de pesquisa, documentação e memória” at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (since 2012); member of the editorial board of Letterature d’America (since 2004), and of the “Edições do Centro de Estudos Brasileiros” of the Federal University of Goiás (since 2018).
 
I have participated in over 60 international conferences and seminars (including as an invited speaker). I have been a member of Doctoral Commitees at the State University of Campinas, the Federal University of Santa Catarina, and the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
I am the author of more than 50 publications, including the book Nudi come Adamo. L’immaginario biblico nelle cronache dal Nuovo Mondo (Mimesis, 2018); editor of Maestro Soberano. Ensaios sobre Antonio Carlos Jobim(Editora UFMG, 2017) and, with Victoria Saramago, of Literature Beyond the Human. Post-Anthropocentric Brazil (Routledge; forthcoming 2022).
As a translator from Portuguese, I have worked for several Italian publishing houses, such as Feltrinelli and Sperling & Kupfer. 
 
My research covers Lusophone literature and culture with a particular focus on Brazil. I am interested in ecocriticism, fictional soundscapes, and environmental ethics; race, gender, and sexuality; the intersection of literature, music, and philosophy; autobiographical and autofictional writing; Brazil culture abroad; cultural politics.
